Alex & Gemma's Humanist Wedding

I had never done a humanist wedding before and after doing this one - I want to do one every day!

Alex & Gemma lived too far away for us to meet straight away - so everything was done via phone calls and messages at the beginning- but we clicked so well and seemed to have the same beliefs about how a wedding should be! Their descriptions of the wedding were that it would be on Gemma's parents land in Llandysul with tipis and bell tents with bunting and a vintage feel. I was in no way prepared for how gorgeous and breath taking the place would be.

It ended up being a much earlier start than first planned, and as I live so far away, Gemma invited me to stay the night before in one of the guest bell tents - complete with mattress and lights! I happily obliged and arrived to a warm welcome and wine with Gemma's friends and family.

The morning started bright and early - and luckily dry - and I headed off to my first bride getting ready in a nearby quaint Inn (The Ship Inn) overlooking the sea.

After bridal prep number 1 with the gorgeous Alex - the makeup artist and myself headed through the country lanes to bridal prep number 2 with the very excited Gemma!

Guests began arriving and started helping set up the chairs in the garden ready for the ceremony as others placed the finishing touches in the tipis.

We were soon joined by the best men and maids of honour (they had one of each ... each!) Bow ties were put on, button holes pinned in and the guests were then treated to mason jars of either beer or Pimms whilst waiting for the ceremony to start.

An outdoor ceremony set - I met our officiant Mike. There are honestly not enough kind words in the world. Mike was sweet, kind, and could not offer enough help and guidance! We chatted quickly about how the ceremony would run and the key shots I was looking to get and were soon joined by our beautiful bride Alex, driven in this fancy set of wheels!

Walked up the aisle with her proud father, Alex waited to be joined by her wife to be. Gemma joined her after walking the aisle with her own smiling proud father.

The ceremony was absolutely beautiful! All outdoors in natural light with plenty of room for me to move around without disturbing anyone. Mike had obviously gotten to know Alex & Gemma very well and spoke about their relationship and invited the best men and maids of honour to come and speak about the couple.

The end of the ceremony meant time for confetti, hugs, giggles and more Pimms!

Followed of course by a good bit of posing!

And here we have the wonderful Mike from

Time for a nibble and some speeches and some lawn games to finish off the perfect day.
